Fresh off of a whirlwind tour of the Northwest United States, Tyler Christensen will be opening the show at the first annual Arizona WinterFest: Beat the Heat Beer Festival.  A blend of Folk, Americana, and Pop;  Tyler’s confessional songwriting has taken him across the US three times and to stages as far away as Czech Republic and Sweden.  Tyler will be performing solo/acoustic for the first half-hour of the BTH music program.

Dirty Lingo

5-6pm Dirty Lingo

http://www.myspace.com/dirtylingo

Although the band does not have mop tops and Liverpudlian accents, they are heavily influenced by The Beatles. Their bouncy pop sentiment makes for a lively show.  Together; Mike Chapman, John Hayden, Adam Wolin and Michael Levin’s combined talent, friendship, and experiences are Dirty Lingo.

Kings of Last Call

6-7pm Kings of Last Call

http://www.myspace.com/kingsoflastcall

Kings of Last Call are a Power Pop/Rock and Roll band from Phoenix, Arizona.  Blending Alt-country, rock, and pop, KOLC’s songs hint at influences as broad as Wilco, The Jayhawks, and Tom Petty.

Formed in 2008 from the ashes of Kiras Rage and South Mountain Lights, the band solidified its lineup in early 2009 and released its first full-length CD, From Memory, in December 2009.

LPP

7-8pm Little Person Projectiles

http://www.myspace.com/littlepersonprojectiles

Steeped in funk style LPP is blends common elements from disparate genre’s and creates a smooth unique sound layered with sick beats, sweeping guitars, and the one constant; Mister Dinger’s witty lyrical world-view which makes for kind conscious hip-hop.

Quixote

8-9pm Quixote

http://www.myspace.com/quixotephx

From sinuous extended jams, to tight and terse rock songs; Quixote is a genre promiscuous original band from Arizona. Comprised of three members: Tyler Christensen, Adam Kohler, and Ehren Stonner – Quixote lays down songs that transcend the genre line while serving their one soverign master – The Groove.

How’d it go?

Moments after the Arizona Cardinals laid the slap-down on the Philedelphia Eagles, Tyler was laying down some tunes on a new little local Arizona radio show called AZ Music Cafe

Don’t tell me Arizona isn’t doing it right.  Today the Rock and Roll Marathon circled the valley, The Cardinals clinched a Super Bowl slot out in Glendale, and some of Arizona’s finest singer/songwriters crowded into the AZ Music Cafe’s studio to broadcast some songs and banter.  There certainly isn’t any lack of good quality entertainment around these parts. - Tyler Christensen

About the Show

Erich Sielaff sponsors and hosts “AZ Music Café” every Sunday at 3pm on KKNT 960 AM.  AZ Music Cafe is about Erich’s love of music.  This program gives him the opportunity to showcase the songwriting and performing skills of local musicians.   He hopes to give them a place to expose their talent and promote themselves without cost.

Tyler played “The Things I’m Gonna Miss” and “One World” on-air and spoke briefly about SuperNormal Records, and his progress of building a record label from the roots on up.

I have to thank Erich and his crew, and all of the other musicians in the lineup today.  What a great show.  It is few and far-between you get a local oriented show like AZ Music Cafe.  Arizona has a “satellite scene” there are great artists and shows to see, but, they are spread out all over the Valley of the Sun and it can be tough to seek out quality performers and songwriters.  AZ Music Cafe is a great way to get a broadbrush look at a number of artists and then puruse the weekly’s to see when their playing around town.  They also have a nifty calendar gizmo on their site that previous guest post their shows on.  Best of luck to the show and Erich, it’s host, for continued success.  Thanks for the good times. – Tyler Christensen

Tyler was on 1480 KPHX Radio in the Phoenix Market yesterday morning (6/22/08) discussing the Public Transit Tour and playing music.

The Skinny from the ‘horse’s':

“Sarge, a weekend host on 1480 KPHX Radio in Phoenix contacted me while I was on tour for the Public Transit Tour: Portland, Oregon.  We discussed Phoenix’s Public Transit and agreed to an interview.  It could not have gone better.  The engineer, Shawn Ryan, made a great suggestion of doing the return from the commercial breaks live in-studio.  Therefore, I did the whole interview holding my guitar – the only way I am 100% comfy.  Thank you, Sarge for the opportunity to discuss such a vital and important issue with you and your audience.  I look forward to continuing our dialogue.” – SuperNormal Tyler
